Nutrition & Health

Habanero Peppers – thas a spicyuh meet-ball

I love talking about food and nutrition and health. I believe it started with my first show at the age of 18, when I met a woman who took supplements. I remember saying to her, “Well, I get the nutrition I need from the food I eat.” We talked more about that, and she shared a bit about her experience with supplements. I wanted to know more and that is where my researching began.

At that time, we never had understudies for shows. If you got sick, you still had to perform. These were six hour nights, six nights a week, 3 to 6 months at a time. My initial research drove me to learn everything I could about the immune system and how to build a strong immunity so that I could prevent ever getting sick. It was at that time in 1989 that I started taking supplements for the first time in my life. Later, I saw my first wrinkle at the age of 23 or 24 and got very interested in anti-aging supplements and related lifestyle choices. So, the basis for my knowledge about nutrition was focused on immune boosting supplements, foods, and teas, and anti-aging supplements, food, and teas. I should also tell you that I had an unhealthy obsession with being thin that started in high school, so I also was very knowledgeable about ways to lose weight.

I have not always had a loving relationship with my body, though, and have made a lot of really unhealthy choices over the past five decades. However, I still love talking about nutrition and how much control we have over our health, and lack thereof, based purely on what we put into our mouths, and how it comes out the other end.

I hope you will find inspiration and encouragement from my stories, and even learn something new. There is so much more information out there nowadays. That doesn’t matter to me because, as I told you, I LOVE TALKING ABOUT FOOD AND NUTRITION!

I look forward to sharing my ideas, my food for thought as it were. Thank you for your interest and for sharing time with me.

Love,

Dawn
